Jamie Thompson Fine Art

Fine Artist Jamie Thompson graduated from Montserrat College of Art in Beverly MA, and went on to earn a Masters of Fine Art degree from SUNY New Paltz in New Paltz, NY. She has exhibited in various galleries located in the United States as well as internationally.

After working over 10 years in the mental health field, Jamie recently transitioned into creating art full-time. Her inspiration is drawn from her mental health work experiences, her travels, and a fascination with the intricate connections among people throughout history.

Jamie's creative process involves a blend of printmaking, drawing, painting, and collage. Her artwork reflects themes of memory, nature, home, and the ephemeral. She often combines images of herself, family, and strangers while incorporating discarded documents and photographs as a way of unraveling the multiple layers of a memory.

In her paintings, Jamie portrays her subjects by emphasizing their unique traits. She showcases their personalities through colorful brushstrokes set against a simpler backdrop.

Jamie's Artist Books are filled with text derived from memories. They create scenarios that people from different eras have experienced and can relate to, such as love, death, and friendship.

The themes in Jamie's artwork are not only personal to her, but they also elicit emotional responses from viewers. Her work centers around the diverse qualities that make us all human and the concept of home as a universal symbol of humanity.
